With the variety of roles in the professional industry (local government or private), it is often a mix of management and technical skill sets that see projects from concept through to completion. The staff working on these projects may rotate between departments or turnover from time to time, but primarily staff are often assigned to roles within the organisation to best suit the organisational structure without necessarily understanding whether a staff member would perform better in a role than someone else.
The natural tendency for people to perform well at specific skills is an under-recognised element in people management, one which has the capacity to have significant impacts on the performance of a team. This presentation provides a thought provoking discussion on how we all operate at our optimum levels when we are doing the things we do best. Stephen will discuss the different perspectives on how technically qualified professionals in a Principal Manager role offer the same value as a those in a Technical Principal role.
